Durga Puja celebration after worst Pandemic time of the Century

Durga Puja of Kolkata’ is now a World Heritage site. The 16th Committee of UNESCO for safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), in a meeting on15th December 2021 in Paris, inscribed Bengal’s biggest festival on the representative list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Durga Puja though a religious festival but as it is celebrated it has become a cultural and secular event. It has also become a space for social and artistic activities.

Avidiptans are celebrating Sri Sri Durga Puja since last 5 years and this is 6th year of celebrations. For last 2 years, in a Pandemic situation (probably one of worst time of history and time to come) it was really a challenge to celebrate puja without compromising the associated joy of celebration, but due to dedicated and courageous efforts of last committee members and available digital technology it became possible to enjoy Puja live digitally from other continents as well, apart from normal Puja Pandal. Currently in near normal covid situation your committee is planning and geared up to celebrate up scaling the activities like pre-Covid period.

Our Durga puja festivities already started with our Khuti Puja on the auspicious day of Ulto-rath i.e. 9th July 2022 with huge and enthusiastic response and participation of the residents of Avidipta. And on 15th August 2022 along with Amrit Mahotsav celebration of 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence Day your Puja Committee organized “Puja theme Hunt”, a free for all painting competition along with ‘Anandamela’ which received huge response from the kids and adults alike.

We look forward and wish you all a very happy puja celebration and assure you all that this committee will leave no stone unturned to celebrate the Durga puja followed by all other Puja and festivities with due pomp and glory, to make this year’s celebration a memorable one. And finally, your unstinting support and huge response this time is our inspiration.
